How our pricing works
Kiwi DJs quotes firm figures against real events, not teaser rates that grow add ons. Tell us the date, the venue and the shape of the night, and the number that comes back is the number you pay, with travel, setup and gear already inside it.
Every booking, at any price point, includes the same core: an experienced DJ from our own team, a sound system sized to your venue, lighting, wireless microphones for speeches, setup finished before guests arrive and pack down after they leave.
What moves the price is the job itself: the hours, the venue’s logistics, ceremony or awards coverage, and the scale of gear the room demands. The panels below map it by event type, and the city prices pages, Auckland and Queenstown, add the local detail.
What affects DJ cost in your event
Every quote is a firm figure for your date and venue. These are the things that move it most.
Hours and coverage lead: reception only, ceremony plus reception, or full day with MC support. The wedding packages page maps the shapes.
The space and the hours lead: a home rig for a backyard 40th, a fuller system for a hired hall. Most parties book four to five hours.
Production leads: run sheet complexity, room scale, walk up music and speech sound set the quote against your event plan.
Venue scale leads: hall rigs to Aotea Centre rigs, with clean edit guarantees standard and lighting sized to the room.

How much does a DJ cost in NZ?
The hours, the venue and the coverage decide it, which is why serious answers arrive as firm quotes. Send your date and venue through the quote form and the real figure comes back today.
How much for a 4 hour DJ?
A four to five hour party is our most common booking, and the price wraps setup, travel and gear around those hours. The space decides the rig, and the quote itemises it.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is priced inside the quote, up front, whether that is across town, over the Crown Range or on a ferry to Waiheke. The accepted figure never grows.
Are deposits required?
A booking fee locks your date, with the balance settled around the event. The quote spells out the exact terms before you commit.
Is the quote really firm?
Yes, against the details you give us. If the event changes shape, the quote is revised with you before anything is charged.
